Sex is Not a Four Letter Word: A Workshop for Parents and Children

Saleema Noon, is a qualified sexual health educator and works with children of all ages, teaching them about healthy bodies and healthy sexuality in ways they find non-threatening and entertaining.  In their own language, children learn about how their bodies change, and what those changes mean.  Saleema also shows parents how to overcome embarrassment when talking to children about sexual health, with words and concepts that are easy to use.

She will make it easy for you to talk to children as they discover their bodies and feelings, and will teach you how to effectively answer the questions they will ask.  Using humor and straight talk in an open, interactive environment, Saleema will show you how easy it is to convey healthy, meaningful messages about sex and growing up to young children. Ms. Noon’s website – www.saleemanoon.com – has a lot of information if you wish to find out more about her program before attending the parent presentation.

Parent Session: Monday, January 30th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Simon Fraser Elementary (note: limited childcare available)

Student Sessions: Thursday, February 9th throughout the day at Simon Fraser Elementary
(note: the presentations for students are age/grade appropriate and that all of what could be discussed with your child will be previewed by Ms. Noon at the Parent Information Meeting.)

It is understood that not all families may feel comfortable with a presentation of this subject matter. For the same reason, we understand that some parents may not wish to have their children attend the session with Ms. Noon.We sincerely hope that you can attend the parent session on January 30th at which time we feel Ms. Noon will be able to answer your concerns.

If, however, you remain uncomfortable with the sessions planned for our students and do not wish your child to attend, we ask that you indicate this on the form. This is necessary to allow us to plan alternate activities for your son/daughter.
