  • upcoming event: Family Quiz Night (will be a Thursday around the end of Feb.)
  • forms will be sent out for attendance and pizza orders
  • entry by donation
  • quiz will start around 6pm, 2 rounds of 10 questions, families will participate together
  • family themed prizes such as movie passes
  • Silicon Bracelet project still in progress
playground upgrade Sarah 6:55pm
  • looking to improve the area that had housed the special needs swing, to replace the broken swing with something accessible and usable by everyone
  • deadline for Rick Hansen playground grant is too close
  • Sarah and Gwen are exploring other sources of funding, including the province, banks, etc.
  • they are also looking at potential designs
childcare update Kerri 7:10pm
  • new community centre intended to be running by Sept. 2009
  • new childcare slated to be open Sept. 2010
  • interim solution required
  • possibilities as follows:# keep centre open for childcare (and other uses possibly); Vision Vancouver was apparently on side with this idea
  1. to look into any possibility of space availability in the school itself; possibly before 9am* information night in Dec. provided some planning results (not so well attended)
school principal update Donna 7:40pm
  • each class received $500 walkathon funds for enrichment
  • UBC scientist programme: chemistry for intermediates, colour theme for primaries
  • “Lion Dance” on Friday, 1/2-hour performance/lecture
  • 12 February: trip to Cavell for “Swarm” performance
  • sometime in March, “Red Sky Performance” (aboriginal)
  • Dharmakasa still in the works
  • this week, PAC-funded poetry workshops took place: performance for primaries, workshop for intermediates
  • School Planning Council (volunteers: Claire K., Karen N., Leslie W.)
  • SPC volunteers will join in with teacher planning process during an April ProD
  • they will sign off on the final “school growth plan” document
Environmental Club Lori
  • Friday club on hiatus for now: 20 kids was too many (15 would be optimal)
  • Sunflower project/planning for school garden
  • Art Starts grant possible for mural upgrade
